What is this about Doctors charging for out-of-hours appointments?

I have heard that Doctors are considering charging up to 拢20 for an appointment outside of normal working hours. I know it was being discussed at a recent GMA conference but can't find any further information. If anyone knows the outcome, I would be grateful for the info. Thanks.

Is there a standardized test for diagnosing ADD?
Answer:
ADD is a disorder that didn't exist 30 years ago. Anyone can act goofy and be diagnosed ADD. The disorder was invented because teachers now can't interest boys enough to pay attention in class, so they want to drug them. Crock of sh** if you ask me.
you can have a giant needle stuck through yourself but there is a risk of a miscarrage
when i was diagnosed, the doctor just monitored my behavior, grades and everything.. plus it runs in my family. They can run psychological tests too.. i had to take those.. but there is not just a specific test.. it's a series of small tests

What is the white, slimy, stringy stuff that often is on my lips or tongue each morning?

is it dry mouth?
Answer:
The white slimy stuff is your saliva. It's white and slimy because it's dried up often resulting into stickiness. This typically occurs when one leaves their mouth open while sleeping.
I think it is salt. It is disgusting, I get it then or after working out.
Have you been sucking on your teddy bear again?

According to a Body Mass Index calculator, it looks like about 40 lbs would be a normal weight.
my 4 year old weights around 45 pounds and she is a big girl. depands on the height too. as long as she or he eats healthy and happy nothing below 30 pounds i would say.

What is the web that connects your bottom inside lip to your gums. mine is detaching itself.?

the web is detaching itself from my gums.
Answer:
It's called a frenulum.

I can't see where it will be a problem, but you should call the dentist on Tuesday (or your doctor's office). You have them where the upper and lower lips are attached as well as under the tongue and where the cheeks attach in the mouth. In babies, the one under the tongue may get snipped because a tied one can cause problems with nursing or learning to talk.

My daughter tore her upper lip one about five years ago. It was a good thing as it was too tight before. She's had no problems since then.
Don't know what it's called your doctor will know about this.
No matter what it's called you need to get to a dentist first ting Tuesday morning.
i had that happen a while ago. you have to get a 13,000 dollar surgery to fix it. and it still hurts like hell every wednesday

What is the usual color of healthy semen?

Hi,
I thought semen would be white color. But my husbands semen usually looks like a white fluid suspended in another transparent fluid. At other times it looks totally colorless. Is this the usual color of semen?

Thanks.

Priya
Answer:
Hmmm that sounds normal to me. I notice it can be more colorless if he has ejaculated a lot recently too. I think the only color to be concerned with is pinkish because that could mean he has blood in his semen.

What is the use of ear wax?

Answer:
Protect the ear drum from foreign objects.
It is one of the ingrediants in Pop Tarts.
trap the dust and insects entering ear canal.
to keep dust and dirt from getting to your ear drum, it sort of traps it.
ear wax is used to prevent water from entering ur ears. they are used by dumb people

i think im wrong. . .
It plays an important role in the human ear canal, assisting in cleaning and lubrication, and also provides some protection from bacteria, fungi, and insects. Excess or impacted cerumen can press against the eardrum and/or occlude the external auditory canal and impair hearingIt plays an important role in the human ear canal, assisting in cleaning and lubrication, and also provides some protection from bacteria, fungi, and insects. It's your body's natural moisturizer and protectant for your ears. It protects in several ways, firstly being an oily substance, it repels water from getting in your ears. It also sticks dust etc. to it, after-wards being naturally expelled. Having had ear problems, I have been repeatedly told not to use purchased buds and other potential ear cleaners, as ear wax is produced to help keep them in good condition. Plus poking things in can badly damage your highly sensitive hearing organ.

It will disappear naturally too.
I think its to keep your ears clean.seems redundant.dirty stuff to keep dirty stuff out.

What is the thickest bone in the human body?

I heard from someone that the bone in front of your brain (frontal bone) is the thickest bone in the body. But I would think I would be something more like the femur or pelvis? Is this true?
Answer:
It depends on where the measurement is made, but yes, the femur and many other bones are thicker than the various bones that comprise the skull.
the wiener
I would guess the femur too.
I work in an ER. The thickest bone, and also the strongest, is the femur, just as you thought.
no. it is your femur.
the femur is the strongest bone. you must have an odd shaped skull cuz most don't even feel thick.
the femur is the thickest and strongest. the femur is usually the one bone that rarely gets broke but if you do brake it, it will cause alot of pain!! the femur also carrys most of the weight on your body.

What is the stomach? what does it do?how does it help with digestion? and what does it produce?

Answer:
as my dear friend so wisely mentioned this question should have 8 points so to get 2 points i answer only the last part, the final product is called S.H.I.T
this question should be worth 8 points...
The stomach is a depository in our body that collects delicious foods after they have been chewed and swallowed. Bile in the stomach erodes the food. Nutrients, and some toxins like alcohol, go through the lining of the stomach and enter our blood stream. Whatever is left goes into our colon and appears in the toilet as a piece of poo.
the stomach is an orga in digestion, (duh.) it kind of sifts through the food you eat, and sends all the nutrients to your blood, and all the fat and stuff you don't need to the large intestine. it doesn't produce anything.
hmm...well the stomach is the part of your digestive system that recieves the food from your esophagus. It produces secretions like hydrocholric acid for one, that aids in the break down of foods, but not only does it aid in the chemical digestion of food, but also in mechanical breakdown by the churning motion the muscles create. However, most of the absorption of the nutrients from your food happens in the intestines, not the stomach.
are you freakin kidding me?
The stomach acts like a blender and crushes the balls of food using its strong muscles. The stomach produces gastric acids which are very very strong acids have 2 functions
helping break down the food and killing all the bacteria in the food. once the food is crusahed it them moves on to your small intestine
The stomach is where food goes after you chew and swallow it. Its like a tank/bag. It holds foods and digegests them in a hydrocloric acid enzym, which it produces. It breaks down food into even smaller bits than what you originally chewed with your mouth...chewing definitely helps the stomach do its job. It is the place that protiens are digested.

What is the side effect of voltarin?

Answer:
What are the possible side effects of Voltaren?

Contact your doctor if you experience blood in vomit or bloody, black, or tarry stools. These symptoms could indicate damage to the stomach or intestines, which could be dangerous.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking diclofenac and seek medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
muscle cramps, numbness, or tingling;
ulcers (open sores) in the mouth;
rapid weight gain (fluid retention);
seizures;
decreased hearing or ringing in the ears;

abdominal cramping, indigestion, or heartburn.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take diclofenac and talk to your doctor if you experience

dizziness or headache;

depression;
fatigue or weakness;

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

What is the safest way to drive drunk?

Answer:
with a 3 wood....maybe use a 9 iron if it is a short hole.
YOU NEVER DRIVE WHILE YOU'RE DRUNK!!!!
In the back seat!
pretend your drunk and start acting like an idiot!
are you kidding?!

the safest way to drive drunk is NOT TO DRIVE

seriously.. thats such a stupid question
On your own land so the only person you can kill is yourself
In a cab with someone else driving. If you must drive, then do it while parked.
Not drive over .5 mph on a closed track.
not to drive at all
If you think that's funny, you're mistaken.

I'm sure the millions of people who have buried loved ones killed by a drunk driver would agree.

And just in case you really are that stupid, let me just say that it isn't safe to drive after one drink, let alone when you're drunk.
Call a cab.
Go to the arcade and drive drunk all you want on one of those race simulators.
At home, on the couch, on the Playstation.
to drive drunk?

just sleep for a while n everything will b fine
Behind the remote control of your X box or play station! NEVER, EVER drive drunk! What if you killed somebody!!! Would you be able to live with that tragedy for the rest of your life?
Don't drive drunk at all! You don't even know how much I have seen being a ER RN and paramedic and if you could go on one fatal accident call that involves a drunk driver killing a family mom, dad, and two children under the age of 6 yrs old. You would change your mind about ever getting behind the wheel drunk ever!
well, lets see you get a role of duct tape, lay on the hood of your car. get a friend go tape you on. get him drunk and drive on the wrong side of the road.

THERE IS NO WAY TO DRIVE SAFELY WHILE INTOXICATED!!!!!
With the drunk not being the driver.
This is not a funny question. It is insulting to families who have lost loved ones due to drunk drivers.

Take a cab. Call a friend.
Call a taxi. It's the only way. Or your wheelchair in prison, when you end up there after killing someone and maiming yourself.
in the back seat of a cab.. You never drive drunk,, their is noooo safe way... Get a DD and have your fun..Or end up like Paris.. in jail... u decide

What is the safest liquid to put in your ears for an earache?

I ask because I recently developed Tinnitus which I don't want to make any worse!
Answer:
Sweet Oil
Mineral Oil.
Please do not put anything into your ears before you see a doctor. If you have an ear ache it could mean that there is an underlying problem that needs medication. Also, the inner ear is a very sensitive and unforgiving place. Before you put anything into your ear speak with your Dr. Even give him a call to ask your question. You may not even need to go in. He also may be able to give you a prescription or something better than oil that isn't a prescription. Check it out.

Hope you feel better : )
In addition to the "sweet oil" answer...

sweet oil is the exact same thing as olive oil, it was just packaged and sold by pharmacists for more money :)
Pure Mustard oil.

In India rural people are using it since centuries.
Sweet Oil has done wonders for my entire family!!

What is the safe lifespan of an electrical fan. Are the old fans ie. fans used in factories?

as big as say one of those old tv sets legal. Could they be sending out piles of dust etc.
Answer:
I used to work somewhere very hot the big fans we had were hired. The hire company would come in and service them.
Sometimes they would blow dust when they were turn on early in the day
I would think a new fan would blow as much dust around as an old one, the dirt in the air that goes into the blades is the same as what is going to come out the front of the blades either way. I have used lots of old fans in my day, and I don't know of any reason to stop using one until it just quits and won't run anymore. I mean, what's the worse that can happen? (The exception is old electrical wiring - I would stop using a fan that has a frayed cord or if you see any sparks in the motor.)

What is the role of medication in a drug treatment program?

I'm just curious. I want to know what the patients need methadone (or whatever they use) for.
Answer:
Medication helps in suppressing withdrawal symptoms. A lot of times, the reason why a drug addict can't quit on his own, is because of the withdrawal symptoms. Having a drug that would be able to free the patient from these symptoms would matter much. Another reason is that medication helps bring the brain functioning back to how it once was. Drugs, such as heroin, interfere with the functions of the brain. The medication reverses the effects brought about by illegal drugs.

What is the role of drugs in addiction treatment?

I'm just wondering what methadone is for, why it is needed for recovery.
Answer:
The drugs are able to help restore the brain functioning back to normal. They also relieve the patient of craving for heroin, and they suppress withdrawal symptoms. It also blocks the effects of heroin. The drugs make it easier for the patient to recover in a shorter amount of time, and prevents relapse as well.
Methadone is not "needed" for recovery but has been found in clinical trials to be effective in substance use recovery. What it does is create a sort of "allergy" to the drug so that the user pairs violent illness with drug use and through association learns to loathe both.

What is the right way to use the listerine mouthwash?

What is the right way to use the listerine mouthwash
Answer:
Rinse for a full minute after brushing. Don't rinse it off. Wait 30 minutes to eat or drink. Repeat at night after you brush and hopefully floss too.
You should rinse your mouth before brushing for 30 seconds. Do this both in the morning and before you go to bed. Do not rinse your mouth with water after using it, it defeats the purpose.
Read the bottle!! And my dentist said it is ok to rinse a bit after using it! The time that you rinse is when it is doing its job, not after. You probably just won't want to eat anything or drink anything because of the aftertaste!
Swish and spit!

What is the right course of action for plugged ears that have been plugged for 4 days, and peroxide won't work

Answer:
I am most definitely not a doctor, lol, but my mom used to put sweet oil in my ears when they were plugged. You have to warm it just a bit in order for it to soften the wax. Sometimes she would put a cotton ball in my ear for draining. Other than that, I think that they sell something for swimmers ear at the drug store.
Hope this helps
Have you tried taking a decongestant?
you are bound to know someone that smokes cigerettes just get one of them to blow the smoke from a couple draws in your ear ...i have know clue as to why it works it just does ... always has ..and have a good day
There is a solution that you put a couple of drops in each ear and within minutes they are unplugged. I really don't remember the name of it because I used it like 10 years ago. Call your doctor and ask for the name of it or ask any pharmacist at your local drug store. They sell it over the counter and I'm sure they'll know what you are looking for.

What is the record for being continuously "high" smoking marijuana"?

person can only intake (smoke, etc) one time, any amount and continue to be "high"
Answer:
The active ingredient being THC, is different in species of the drug, in the same sense people are affected in different ways as well. My thesis on the subject which included live subjects (interviews, not testing subjects) was surprising to note that the first time rarily affected subjects to any real high, but the second time was "Phenominal", which was the cause to continue to experience that high. That high was never as good as the first real high or second time smoking. The record you speak off was never known as "Time just slipped away".
if you smoke once a day the maximum amount to be high is like 2 hours to feel the effects

What is the recommended dose of bee pollen?

Answer:
it says on the bottle whether it is liquid or capsules.Must be careful that you do not have a bee allergy or you are in for a reaction you will not like- difficulty breathing
It would depend greatly on what form you're taking and for what purpose. My daughter and I use raw bee pollen for airborne allergies, and found that the processed pollen isn't as highly regarded.

My daughter was taking approximately one teaspoon of raw pollen daily and no longer suffers from allergies on a regular basis. When her hayfever starts acting up, she'll start taking it again and the symptoms subside. I only have occasional hayfever and take it as needed.

I am allergic to bees, and have no side effects from the pollen.

What is the quickest way to get rid of bad breath ?

i will be going out with my best friends later in one hours time and i just ate food that makes my breath stink a little.what is the most fastest and quickest way to get rid of the smell??

p.s:i dont have a breath spray
Answer:
Brush your teeth and tongue (this is key your tongue should be pink, not white, the white is bacteria adn that gives you bad breath), floss and drink plenty of fluids. A dry mouth is a stinky mouth.
Brush your teeth, and then have like spearmint gum with you so you smell minty fresh all night.
Gum%26lt;333
But you have access too a computer? If you dont have toothpaste or gum...

Find soda and swish it around your mouth a couple of times. THen eat something that smells nice...skittles or something. Lick your teeth and gums.
There are three sources of halitosis: Stomach, lungs and mouth...Check 'em out.

For an immediate fix - salt water rinse and gargle.
brush your teeth.
get some mint tea.
gum?
mouthwash?
eat something that smells less worse.
ok well start off by brushing your teeth.
then get some minty gum or a minty mint!!
that should keep your breath feeling fresh and clean!
:]
brush your teeth, tongue and inside of your cheeks--then use mouthwash swishing it around for about 1-2 minutes before spitting it into the sink
You said "the quickest" and so you leave too little to work with. The body does not repair quite that quickly: the body goes far and deep -- not quick, just as Nature does.

However, I will say this -- always go to nature to repair it.

There exists the wondrous herb, the clove. This is the sprout of the clove plant dried and is the selfsame herb that chefs once did use and still do in some circles to season baked hams.

You can get them in any grocery store in the seasons section, right there with the pepper and other herb seasonings like pepper and cayenne and so on.

One will do, but use a stout clove sprout. They are small and most powerful.

You need only place it in the mouth and allow it to soften, barely chewing upon it -- barely ! Do not ingest it.

Just let it linger in your mouth or in the jaw. Simply allow it to remain in your mouth. If it should break or you swallow it, simply place another in your mouth. That's all, and keep the whole little box with you.

So mighty are these little things that they will indeed displace the odor in your mouth, so sharp is the chemistry, which practically burns.

You need not worry of the burning though; it does have a numbing effect; however, this will do no harm. It will subside.

Little can stand before its power given that you want the "quickest way."

Aside from this, apples will help some as well. But they do not quite displace a strong scent like that of garlic, or some deep-set physiological reason centered in the respiratory or digestive system.
brush your teeth, gargle with mouthwash, gum, mints, eat an orange?

What is the purpose of taking certain medicines with food?

Why do some medicines comes labeled with "Take with food?" I was asking because I took Emergency Contraceptive (Plan B). No where did it specify taking with food in the instructions and on the labels, but after researching it online, I see some sites saying that it should be taken with food.

I hope that not taking a medicine with food won't lower its effectiveness, because if that is the case, that means that there is a greater chance that I can still become pregnant.

So can anyone explain the reasons behind taking some medications with food and whether not taking medicine with food lowers its effectiveness?
Answer:
Some medications can really irritate the stomach lining. Having food in there aids in the absorbtion and gives the stomach some protection. Some meds absorb better when take when you have eaten.
This is to prevent upset stomach because some medicines have a tendency to cause naseau.
medicines also absorb differently in the body, if it was important it would have said to take with food
I don't think that it will lower the effects of the medication, I think it is because if you take it on an empty stomach it could make you sick or just give you an upset stomach.
Some medications may irritate your stomach if not taken with food. Read the labels on medications always. It shouldn't effect your being pregnant that didn't come from food.
It can have a lot to do with the way your body metabolizes the medication. Food can help your body slow down the rate your body absorbs the medicine. Also some medicines can make you sick if you don't eat anything or have anything else in your stomach. (which i think is the case with plan B. I heard it can make you feel really sick)
My special daughter had a problem gaining weight and had to take medicine to help her digest her food.
But normally medicine that should be taken with a meal is to help digest it along with your food.
It can be due to two reasons. First is that when food is being digested, the enzymes released into the digestive system help in assimilation of the medicine.

In case of certain medicines, which contain chemicals which may be highly reactive to the digestive system, presence of food reduces the chances of an adverse reaction.

In both cases, presence of a medicine along with food in the digestive system means when food is being absorbed by the body, chances of the medicine itself being absorbed are better and efficient.
Most labels on medication say to take with food because some medication may give you nausea. So taking the medication on a full stomach will help your body tolerate the medication better.I don't believe that it will lower the effectiveness of the medicine.

What is the purpose of a tetnis shot?

Its not like I care, but why do tetnis shots hurt so much after. What are they used for anyway?
Answer:
to keep you from getting tetnis.. they do hurt but think about it this way you only have to have them every 10 years..

go look here
http://www.tetanus.org/?utm_source=googl...

hope that helps. :-)
So you don't have to eat through a straw because your joints are locked up from having tetnis.
preventing tetanus
I'm stunned that you don't know. It's a vaccine to prevent tetinus aka "lock jaw".
They are injecting you with the a weak from of what they try to prevent so you build up immunities. It is in case you step on a rusty nail, and don't die.
they are usd to prevent lock jaw where you scrape your arm on something rusty an dgets into your blood stream and throws a arty and can make you really sick and it causes oorgans and stuff in your body to shut down but it first maks your jaw lock where is wont close or com open and its deadly so well if i wasnt inforamtive enough look it up
There used to keep you from getting lock jaw if you step on a rusty nail etc. They hurt because there given in a muscle
So you don't get tetnis! It is a very serious illiness. And they don't hurt if you put alchol on a cotton ball and massage it.
Tetanus has a more common term. "Lock-Jaw", the symptom of the disease which can paralyze the jaw, affecting a person's eating and drinking abilities. I believe it is one of the diseases you can die from -(but can't remember for sure).
Booster shots are needed every 10 years to prevent Tetanus.

The tetanus bacteria can infect many kinds of wounds. Puncture wounds, animal bites, wounds from splinters and projectiles can all cause deadly disease.

Tetanus infection is well worth avoiding. It causes鈥?

muscle stiffness (most commonly in the jaw, giving tetanus the term "lock jaw")
difficulty swallowing
restlessness and irritability
stiff neck, arms, or legs
fever, headache, sore throat

Left untreated, tetanus is often fatal. As the disease progresses鈥?

Muscle spasms of the face can create a permanent smile and raised eyebrows.
Spasms of the muscles around the lungs and diaphragm can interfere with breathing.
Convulsions can break bones.
It's for lockjaw.

What is the proper way to wash your contact lens cases?

No tap water, please. It's dirty as hell.
Answer:
I believe the best way to clean the case out is to pour some solution in there and put the lid back on, shake it for some time, and pour it back out.
Mild soap and water and rinse well. Change it every month for a brand new case.
I wash it with hot water and let it air dry. Been using the same case for years, it is not necessary to buy a new one unless something is wrong with it.

What is the proper title for an unmarried pregnant woman?

Answer:
Unmarried pregnant woman or Unwed expecting mother
Unfortunate
Expectant single mother
An unmarried pregnant woman.
Innocent mother.
coccoon
a mommy-to-be :)
i think a pre-marital pregnant woman
Ms. and then her surname, the same as for any woman you feel might not like Miss or Mrs.
Single mom-to-be
Single,Pregnant and Beautiful.
A woman in trouble. Not sure if there is a name for the woman, but the child of course is a bastard.
A MOTHER!
Someone who wasn't thinking
Ms.
Ms.
Single mother. Or "child support case".
Single, but carrying
unexpected pregneter
Um, single mom-to-be? Or, if you're part of the Brother Hubert and Sister Henrietta Holier-Than-Thou Crowd, you'd probably refer to such a woman as a tramp or trollop.
Single Happy Mother To Be! I don't think there is a "label" for that. It's life...it happens.
Miss refers to never been married. Ms. is after marriage. Even though she is with child and still not married she is still refered to as Miss.
I wasn't aware that we have to give anyone a TITLE! but if we do I'd have to say BEAUTIFUL!!
unmarried mother-to-be or single mother-to-be
why not her name?
Miss or Ms. They are not married and pregnancy has nothing to do with that.
ask HER

one addresses adults
in the manner they desire
uhm theres nothing wrong with it.
maybe she has a boyfriend and they dont want to waste there money on a wedding.. they want to save it for the baby.
and maybe they dont want that kind of comitment. because eventually they know there gunna get divorced which would cost alot of money too.
i think its quite smart to not get married and save the money for the child.
there is no 'proper title' for it.

What is the prognosis for myelodisplastic anemia syndrome?

My younger ways have caught up with me and now I suffer. I have non-alcoholic cyrhosis. and just recently had 29 esophageal varicees banded to stop the blood loss.

Over the last 3 years 6 hospital stays of 5 days each and 6-7 units of blood transfusion each time.
Answer:
The goals of therapy are to control symptoms, improve quality of life, improve overall survival, and decrease progression to acute myelogenous leukemia.

The IPSS scoring system can help triage patients for more aggressive treatment (i.e. bone marrow transplant) as well as help determine the best timing of this therapy.[2] Supportive care with blood product support and hematopoeitic growth factors (e.g. erythropoietin) is the mainstay of therapy.

Three agents have been approved by the US FDA for the treatment of MDS: 5-azacytidine, decitabine, and lenalidomide. Chemotherapy with the hypomethylating agents 5-azacytidine and decitabine has been shown to decrease blood transfusion requirements and to retard the progression of MDS to AML. Lenalidomide was approved by the FDA in December 2005 only for use in the 5q- syndrome.

Bone marrow transplant, particularly in younger patients (ie less than 40 years of age), more severely affected patients, offers the potential for curative therapy. Success of bone marrow transplantation has been found to correlate with severity of MDS as determined by the IPSS score, with patients having a more favorable IPSS score tending to have a more favorable outcome with transplantation.[

I think you mean a enema. Enema's as you always use water %26 sometimes a solution, juices, etc. but are NEVER are you suppose to use liquor as when giving an enema it hit's your system worse then consuming liquor. Intestinal cleaning or enmea.
Have a good night. :0)
Any good laxative will do this.Just be sure to be near a toilet when needed.

What is the primary motive of most people who enter the medical profession?

Is it to help people, make money, or something else?
Answer:
It really is both. Don't believe anyone that tells you that they're primarily in it just to "help people". Do you have any idea how many different ways you can "help" someone, but, doesn't involve making 6 figures a year?

There is no one that can go into the medical profession with only the mindset of "I want to save lives" unless they are filthy rich already. Most people go into the field thinking more along the lines of "I want to make lots of money, but, I also have a passion for making people feel better". The reality of it is no one is willing to spend years in medical school without receiving a big payoff. Likewise though, no one is likely going to want to be a doctor if this is something they're really not into.

Really, if you think about it, you HAVE to be somewhat passionate to go into the medical field, it is extremely competitive and if you don't have the mentality to work hard, you simply won't make it, even if your goal is just to make big bucks.
Money, prestige, then, possibly, to help people. At least in America.
I would like to enter the medical profession one day, and I can say that my reason would be to help people, number one. Having money that will be able to support my family would be number two. Number three would be to understand the body and strive to make improvements in the medical field. Knowing that you're makinga difference is very rewarding!
Well, I think people who become doctors for instance, really want to help people get better. I mean, the process of medical school is rather difficult. If it were just about money, then people would becoming more lawyers :-)

I personally chose to be a med student so I could rid the world of disease...just kidding. The fat paycheck you get sugar on the cake!
i once was told by a surgeon that helping people is not the main reason, but to prove that you where better than the rest

I don't think his right, but he is a doctor and I'm not, so... i don`t know...

What is the price for the drug Alli and where can I buy it on the Internet?

Answer:
You can buy it from drugstore.com and GNC.com I believe on the 17th of June. Also you can get it from your local pharmacy around that same time. For a month's supply it should cost around $63.00.
You should stop using it and I don't know because that is bad!

What is the price for doing lasik in Richmond, VA? Any recommended doctors? Reviews?

Moving to RIchmond, VA soon and thinking of whether doing the sugery before going over or doing it over there. Heard it is quite cheap in the States. Thanks..

I did an evaluation and the doctor says that my eyes are too small and may beed to slit the side open a bit, anyone has such an experience before.

Thanks a million
Answer:
that would depend on the insurance that you get when you go to USA and then the policy of the insurance carrier, it can not be predicted before hand, good luck

What is the point to sleep?

When we sleep our body is still working then why do we feel fresh when we wakeup.
Answer:
Your body is still working but not at the same speed when you are awake.
I'm glad you feel fresh after a night's sleep...I never do!
Mentally also physically
Its like what happens to the borg in their alcove - we regenerate
We sleep so the parts of our body that work all day (hands, feet, legs, etc.) can get rest. Even though our brain and lungs and heart still function, this is normal and irrelevant because they are all built to work non-stop. The other parts of our body are not.
Sleep is a natural part of everybody's life, but many people know very little about how important it is, and some even try to get by with little sleep. Sleep is something our bodies need to do; it is not an option. Even though the exact reasons for sleep remain a mystery, we do know that during sleep many of the body's major organ and regulatory systems continue to work actively. Some parts of the brain actually increase their activity dramatically, and the body produces more of certain hormones.

Sleep, like diet and exercise, is important for our minds and bodies to function normally. In fact, sleep appears to be required for survival. Rats deprived of sleep die within two to three weeks, a time frame similar to death due to starvation.

An internal biological clock regulates the timing for sleep. It programs each person to feel sleepy during the nighttime hours and to be active during the daylight hours. Light is the cue that synchronizes the biological clock to the 24-hour cycle of day and night.
Honestly, no one knows.

Take a look at the article in my sources, it's pretty interesting.

Inconclusive,but interesting.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/sleep#theor...
Nature has decided the point. Don't worry oh inferior being, just trust her.
It takes 8 hours of sleep in total darkness fpr your immune system to recover and back to full strength. That's why you get sick when you don't get enough sleep.
Your mind goes through many phases of sleep that processes what has happened during the day. Beats me how it refreshes your body. I've wondered why something like a backache will go away during sleep, but won't go away just from lying down.
Well then don't sleep, and see how many nights you'll last and tell me what is feels like on your body when you don't sleep. I'll bet your pain level and sensitivity to pain will increase. And I'll bet you'll find it hard to think and concentrate.
When you are sleeping your body is regenerating. Your body does work but not as hard.
your asking me... the insomniac??
It's like the sleep mode on a computer, the light is on but your body is regenerating and repairing tissue. The metabolism of your body decreases thus putting you a state of REM where stress and tension is released. Without sleep people would become exhausted, paranoid and suicidal.
I,ll sleep when I,m dead
One view, "Preservation and Protection", is that sleep serves an adaptive function. It protects the individual during that portion of the 24-hour day in which being awake, and hence roaming around, would place the individual at greatest risk. Organisms don't require 24 hours to feed themselves and meet other necessities. From this perspective of adaptation, organisms are safer by staying out of harm's way where potentially they could be prey to other stronger organisms. They sleep at times that maximize their safety, given their physical capacities and their habitats. (Allison %26 Cicchetti, 1976; Webb, 1982). This theory, however, is not universally accepted. For example, if true, there would be no reason for the brain to disengage from the external environment as it does during normal sleep. A more advantageous adaptation would be for animals to seclude themselves but maintain quiet wakefulness to avoid predation. Nevertheless, it must be said that animals who are preyed upon usually disengage from the external environment to a lesser degree. Sleep is not simply a passive consequence of removing the animal from the environment, but rather is itself a "drive": animals will alter their behaviors in order to obtain sleep. Therefore, circadian regulation is more than sufficient to explain periods of activity and quiescence that are adaptive to an organism, but the more peculiar specializations of sleep most likely reflect different and unknown functions.
cuz when u go to sleep everythin slows away down except ur brain and kidneys and this helps to build ur energy up again making u feel refreshed in the morning! xx
its the only time our brain gets to rest hunny. sleep is essential for us to function and concentrate. wish i felt refreshed when i wake up,I'm generally still tired, lol. take care xx
i think that we need to sleep so our bodies can repair our bodies. when you are sick i always feel better with more sleep

What is the point of talking to a therapist?

I would like to talk to someone, but how do you talk to a therapist? what does on and does it help?
Answer:
A therapist is primarily there to help you sort out your feelings and beliefs, based on your past, your current problems, and what you see as your problems. A therapist will try to help you see things in different ways so some changes can take place. A therapist will listen to whatever you want to talk about. The relationship must be trusting to allow you to open up and say what you really think. An interview with a therapist is the first step. Then decide if that person can help you. If not, try someone else.
a good therapist can be very insightful. try to find one that someone you know has used with success.

I went many years ago when I was overwhelmed. I got her name from my dentist. She was fabulous. I'll never forget her. A brilliant woman.
You talk to a therapist like you talk to any other person. Generally the first couple of sessions are awkward but after a while it gets more comfortable. The therapist typically asks questions about you and you answer. Sometimes my therapist and I just talk about things that are going on. Despite popular belief, they do not just sit there and ask how everything you describe made you feel. They're there to listen and give input and advice when needed. The key is to find someone you are comfortable with. I saw someone twice whom I did not like because she kept interrupting me and wouldn't listen. Seeing her made things worse for a little while. It may also be awkward at times because a good therapist will let you finish and when you are done talking, they may wait a little bit to make sure you're done before saying something or responding. It's akward, and I've encountered it many times, but it helps.
Therapy isn't scary or something to be avoided. It's a really good thing and I highly recommend it.
The point? Well, consider this. A therapist can at least allow an individual to start casting off baggage. That you are asking of this may well indicate that you are now ready to begin that beginning. Individuals spend much of their lives, through no faults of their own, taking on baggage. And because so many people today are deeply guarded about themselves, they find little who they can entrust their myriad sensitivities to: this is somewhat wise of course, because others carry with them, too, as much mass.

The downside if any is, one has to pay for that therapy service, which costs can be daunting, and which reason often prompts, say, a poor person to devise ways to outflow in very creative ways and take chances. They reach out and allow others to reach out to them; this is one of the great secrets of life -- something preciously simple -- the idea of purest causation: giving and receiving.

Often just finding some outlet, say, something that they would love to do or associate themselves to does work wonders as well, because often again one simply needs, say, a switch to flip to start an inner engine that lies dormant but which may be more than capable of operating to shred away years of undue mass.

This mass is not residual in itself -- but of itself it is -- by which I mean, as long as it lies within, it does have a somewhat life or consciousness all its own: it has had years of knowing it will be fed and nurtured, whether its energetic signature be good or bad.

Point is, it is inert and will continue to do as it was signatured to do and does carry the selfsame frequency as the makeup of energy that birthed it into being in the first place: the thoughts, impressions, feelings and associated memory patterns, all of which possess energy frequencies and signatures, say... These are what one might want to call engrams...for a better picture of it here is, a programming of sorts, a self-programming; hence, an engram ! Which implies something ' written ' in, into, or on something.

The therapist helps to "un-install it," to use a computer metaphor. But so does friendly, open, non-judgemental people... See?

But an engrammatic expression can be shut off -- or can be shut on if that is needed -- sometimes occurring slowly and deliberatively, or other times this can happen in lightning speed.

An engram can be a boon or a hindrance; it all depends.

A few of a special kind who work in the realm of the mantic works know of these sort of phenomena well, which is well beyond the compass of psychology and neurology. These types of individuals know that much of what ensues in a person has its roots in very distant, hoary things of the past, going way back, inconceivably into the past, which is why I use the term here, ' mantic, ' for this goes into the divine side of things and life-- the true spiritual realms...

Now go and seek out a therapist or a host of trustworthy allies...

And you know -- sometimes the best of all ears, heads, and hearts are demonstrated by strangers themselves, for they are objective and share no bindings or have nothing to divest of -- unlike that of a family member, who can push all sorts of buttons that must not be pushed without factoring in proper timing.

Somewhere in the biblical references was the passage, which I paraphrase here: ' a friend is closer than a brother.'

Interesting, huh?

What is the oneword for 'the old man who is going to die'?

normal death
Answer:
my words would be
"sleep in everlasting peace"
on deathbed. No that's two words.

We have a saying: "one foot in the grave" but guess that doesn't count here.
I don't know, may something with the root mort in it. it's a good question. i think i know it but can't think of it. Moribund means dying but doesn't mean old man dying specifically.

What is the normal pulse rate for most people?

i know people have different pulse rates but what is the normal pulse rate for most people?
Answer:
60 beats per minute is average.
Depnds on Age...pulse for an adult is 60 to 100 beats per minute
Depends on age.
Normal adult (18+ older) is 60-100
Pulse rate is based on many factors. These include diet, excersize, age and even possibly race. A pulse rate of 60 should be considered good. 100 is kinda high. The most average one that I see is about 80. You must remember that there are many overweight and obese people in america that are pulling that average up.

What is the normal lenghth and amount of period for a 35 year old female?

Answer:
Her period should be the same as it always has been unless she has gone through some major hormonal change, like childbirth. Every woman's period is different, some have it for 3 days, some 5, some more or less. also, some women ovulate every 28 days, some every 21. It all depends. As far as amount goes I am guessing that you are asking about how much tissue she expels. I have read that if you measured it it would be less than 1 cup (8oz) over the length of the period. Again, some women bleed more, some less. It depends.
Well im 32 and my periods are heavy one month then light the next month, and i usually am on for about 3-5 days.
xxx
Three to seven days per a month for most women. Some women get their period more frequently and some women get their period less frequently.
Who knows what NORMAL is anymore, but the average period lasts from 3-6 days. It is said you lose no more than 3 tablespoons of blood during a period, but I tell ya ...it seems like a lot more to me!
Well, normal and me don't often collide in the same sentence, but I was lucky and my periods lasted only 2 days, 3 max. Very light, but lots of cramps. I am now 49 and in menopause (thank God!) but that's what it was like for me back then.

What is the normal body tempture for most people?

people have different body tempture but what is the normal body tempture for most people?
Answer:
Text book norm is 98.6 orally. Most people vary a little from the norm. Unless you're below 97.0 or above 99.9 it usually isn't that big of a deal though. It can also differ a little if you take it rectally or under the armpit rather than orally.
98.6
98.6 is whats "normal" but yes different people vary
Between 97 and 98.6 degrees. I am always 97.5 degrees and so is my daughter.
The normal temperature (about 37.0掳C or 98.6掳F) of human blood.
98.6* F is the text book normal body temperature but the tempertaure can vary from person to person based on metabolic rate, time of day, age, and part of the body where the measurement is taken. Check out the below site for more information:
http://hypertextbook.com/facts/lenawong.
98.7
It should be around 98.6, with a little devience, but for infants, it's ok for it to be slightly higher. Anything above 101 or so for an infant should be taken to a doctor.
It is 37.4 degree Celsius, but it differs because from where you have measured. Let me inform you the correct place %26 that's anal canal.

What is the normal body temperature in degrees fahrenheit?

im babysitting my brother and before my dad left he told me to check his temperature at 5 and its 5 and i checked it and its 100 degrees fahrenheit?is that normal?
Answer:
between 97 and 99 degrees F is considered normal. 100 would indicate a fever.
98.6 is average. Your brother has a low-grade fever.
normal is considered 98.6
so at 100, your bother has a low grade fever, it's no big deal.
98.6 100 is a very slight fever and may be due to the heat, have a nice cool drink
That is a low grade temp the regular is 98.6 but if it goes over 101.5 you should call your dad...or give him some children's tylenol and send him to bed with a cool rag on his neck...
98.6 is normal...he has a fever
The normal body temperature is actually 98.6 degrees.
98.6Farenhieit 37Celcius 307Kelvin
The normal temp is 98.6 degrees. A little high but no bid deal just keep an eye on it
The normal body temperature is 98.6.
How old is he?
an adult is 98.6, but for children it is generally a little lower.

My daughter is 18 months and generally around 97.5. When she has a 100 temp it is considered a low grade fever and to not worry. It is the bodies natural way to fight off infections.

Under 1 year, you may want to call your Dad and let him know. A lot of times, the doctor will want to check them out.
Over 1, not a concern until it reaches 102 or higher.
Normal adult body temperature is 98.6 degrees fahrenheit. However depending on your brothers age that can vary and be around 99 degrees. However, usually a temperature of 100 would be high it should not be high enough for concern, however if it goes any higher at all I would definately get in contact with your father or someone else and let them know and see what they suggest you doing.
Your normal body temp is 98.6 degrees fahrenheit. You should probably give your brother some kind of painkiller, like Advil or Motrin and make him sit quetly, he does have a mild fever but you don't need to go to the doctor over it. 102 is dangerous so if it gets that high you should go to the doctor. Hope this helps.
The average normal temperature is 98.6掳 (37掳). However, "normal" varies from person to person. Your temperature will also vary throughout the day, usually being lowest in the early morning and rising as much as 1掳F (0.6掳C) in the early evening. Your temperature may also rise by 1掳F (0.6掳C) or more if you exercise on a hot day.
98.6 is "normal", but 1 out of 5 people has an "abnormal" body temperature. Mine, for instance, is 96.8 rather than 98.6... So, for me, a temperature of 100 is comparable to a "normal" person having a temperature of 101.8 - that would be more than a "mild" or "low-grade" fever. You need to know your brother's normal body temperature to determine whether this is a serious fever, or something that you shouldn't be too concerned about.
98.6
98.6 F is normal. If he has 100, the poor kid got a fever, and you should tell your dad.

What is the name of the muscle on the top front of your leg?

also could you help me with this question too?

What is the name of the muscle on the back of your upper leg?
Answer:
The quadriceps femoris (a.k.a. "quads") is a group of four muscles covering the femur bone of the thigh. The first muscle group of the quad is the vastus lateralis, which is found on the outer part of your upper leg often called the quad sweep. The vastus medialis lies on the inside of you upper leg forming a teardrop just above your knee. The vastus intermedius is found on the top part of the femur and is also located deep into the lateralis and medialis muscle groups. Making up the fourth muscle group of the quad, the rectus femoris runs from the hip bones (the iliac crest) all the way down to the knee (platella). All of these four muscles (vastus and the rectus femoris) are responsible for extending the leg at the knee.

The back of the upper leg is comprised of three hamstring muscles. The muscle we sit on is called the biceps femoris and has both a long head near the hip (ischial bone) and a short head above the back of the knee that connects to a tendon which connects to the fibula. The inside-back of the thighs are comprised of the semitendinosus and semimembranosus muscles. Sound like a mouthful? Well, they both connect between the hip and the tibia bone of the lower leg. Lastly and certainly not the least important, the gluteus maximus ("glutes") is the largest and thickest hip muscle and consists of the thickest and strongest fibers in the body. These muscles pull the thigh and lower leg backward like that of a thigh extension (pulling your heel to your butt).
The front is your quadrisceps I think and the back are your hamstrings. If not, then vice-versa.
The front is the quadriceps and the back is, I have no idea. I hope this helps.
Rectus Fermoris

What is the name of the medicine advertised on TV in which a man or a woman splits into two and back into one?

Answer:
Probably Caduet which is used to treat a high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

What is the muscular system and what does it do?

i mean i know what it is but i need some help saying it and i know that it makes you move but like i said i need to know how to say it better
Answer:
Muscles are like the springs and pulleys that help us move various parts of the body.
Have a look on the NHS direct website...or google 'medical terminology' you should find some great answers and ways to say it there.

:-)
So what do muscles do?
Muscles move cows, snakes, worms and humans. Muscles move you! Without muscles you couldn't open your mouth, speak, shake hands, walk, talk, or move your food through your digestive system. There would be no smiling, blinking, breathing. You couldn't move anything inside or outside you. The fact is, without muscles, you wouldn't be alive for very long!

Do I have lots of muscles?
Indeed. On average, probably 40% of your body weight is in muscles. You have over 630 muscles that move you. Muscles can't push. They pull. You may ask yourself, if muscles can't push how can you wiggle your fingers in both directions, back and forth, back and forth? The answer? Muscles often work in pairs so that they can pull in different or opposite directions.

How do muscles move?
The cells that make up muscles contract and then relax back to original size. Tiny microscopic fibers in these cells compress by sliding in past each other like a sliding glass door being opened and then shut again. The cells of your muscles use chemical energy from the food you eat to do this. Without food, and particular kinds of nutrients, your muscles wouldn't be able to make the energy to contract!

Some muscles are known as "voluntary" -- that is, they only work when you specifically tell them to. Do you want to say something? Or swing a bat? Or clap your hands? These are voluntary movements. Others, like the muscular contracting of your heart, the movement of your diaphragm so that you can breathe, or blinking your eyes are automatic. They're called involuntary movements. And how do any of these muscles move? Through signals from your nerves, and, in some cases, your brain, as well.

Can you hurt muscles?
Yup. If you hear someone say that they "pulled" a muscle, they have, in fact, torn a muscle in the same way that you can tear a ligament or break a bone. And, like these other living body parts, with a little help, they generally mend themselves.

Factoids
You have over 30 facial muscles which create looks like surprise, happiness, sadness, and frowning.
Eye muscles are the busiest muscles in the body. Scientists estimate they may move more than 100,000 times a day!
The largest muscle in the body is the gluteus maximus muscle in the buttocks.
The muscular system is the biological system of an organism that allows it to move. The muscular system in vertebrates is controlled through the nervous system, although some muscles (such as the cardiac muscle) can be completely autonomous. :)
The muscles that make you move are known as voluntary muscles as you choose to move them.

What is the most practical way to quit smoking? Please mind when i say PRACTICAL.?

Over the time i have heard things like: Will Power, Keep non smoking company, spend the day differently? But the most important thing i would like to know....what should be the thought process....how to encourage oneself for the same...coz whenever i try to do...i get a fear.....that i am missing something very very important..I would appreciate if you could help me in quitting this habit? I have been smoking since last 10 yrs..
Answer:
i really don't understand why quitting smoking is so difficult for som epeople. maybe it is cos u have nothing to do all day long? or u have some tension cos u re stressed, depresed or unhappy? i had been smoking since i was 15. now i am 37 - one day i decided to quit smoking cos i had some difficulties of breathing at night probably cos of goitre which all smokers have. so i just quitted smoking. just like this. i still smoke like 1 or 2 cigs if i go out and drink, but not always and i dont' have any cravings at all. so it is all in just saying to yourself "i don't want to smoke any more". not "i must stop smoking" but "I DON'T WANT TO SMOKE". this is my tip. good luck. just nmake yourself believe that u don't want it any more

thou i must add after reading someone suggestions - i have absolutely no health improvement, face improvement or teeth whitening improvement after quitting smoking. i has been 10 months. i don't feel different at all somehow. but maybe it's just me
do u have a checkbook or check card? think about the politician you can't stand the most..everytime you smoke make a monetary donation to him/her. lol. you will quit in a week.
Just stop. There is no other easier way. It is impossible to stop in instalments. Say no and feel great about it. Feel happy when your mouth does not stink, your hunger is normal and keep looking at your body everyday - there is a change particularly when you work out. There is a glean on your face when you stop smoking. Watch your face everyday after you quit smoking - there is a shine. Your teeth look great after every brushing when you quite smoking. These are positive aspects to STOP SMOKING. Feeling great being a non-smoker will help you get out of this habit.
There are a few things that helped me. One is to figure out how much one cig costs u and every time u have the urge, put aside that much money. Its helpful to see how much you're saving. Another that may sound kinda goofy but I swear it got me through is I would find gum that opened like a pack of cigs and were the sticks (ex. orbit and dentyne). I think it kinda tricked my mind by doing half the habit. Good luck!
good quistion , first of all u try slowly if you smoke 2 sigrate daily then it is 1 then it is zero it is progress you want to need , sigrate is your habit so u take another habit that chewing gum etc it is also helpful to quit sigrate you kept sigrate and chewing gum in your pocket when u want sigrate u take chewing gum and eat it ok
to quit smoking you find the thing other than smoking which you like the most i.e playing games, watching movies..etc and try to give most of your time doing that...i think slowly you will be able to quit smoking.and most imp be with your friends and enjoy life...
whats stronger, you or the cigarette? I just asked myself if I was strong enough to stop. I found its easier to not do something than to do it. Food started to taste better and I could smell and breathe better only after a few days and smoking didn't make sense quickly, I feel more confident, cleaner, and healthier because I quit and knowing this I will never smoke cigarettes again. I quit 5 years ago and smoked a pack a day for 5 years. cold turkey with an occasional nicorete about one a day, midday for the first week and lots of sunflower seeds, it gets easier quickly. I told everyone I was quitting and owned up to it and they supported me at I didn't want to let down my family and friends.

What is the most powerful ecstasy you've done? (it's for a school project!)?

I've been looking up on google all night but i couldn't find anything answers!
Answer:
the most powerful ecstacy I have ever taken was the red/orange kangaroos...its not the name that matters but what was in them..they had me strung out for awhile which made me reazlie it was stupid..I think they are heroine and meth based. when you roll it kicks in and makes you feel high and then low (which is a normal feeling) but the kangaroos had he "high" all night and all day. Thats just my own personal experience...there might be better.
i did some hard **** in the slammer man, my penis almost exploded because of this, its name starts with a "T" i think, hope this helps
not worth it. I mixed ecstasy and acid once and never touched anything hallucenagine again. But that was some very powerful and potent feeling and i dont wish it upon nobody.
Riding an amusement ride known as Octopus, twice in a row!

Dancing and performing on stage and on the streets with plenty of people watching. Singing the National anthem on a flag ceremony...
thats a trick question sort of.

it works like this.. the main ingredient in xtc is called mdma (methyldioxymethamphetamine). It is available in pure powdered form and people take that in capsules. So taking pure mdma (or "molly") is the strongest you can take.

ANY pressed pill cannot contain pure mdma because it needs a binding agent to make the pill stick together. Plus Nearly every pill out there is cut with other ingredients that make them weaker, or give other effects than pure mdma does. Sometimes those pills can be dangerous ,but thats hype mostly.

So the answer is pure molly powder. As far as pressed pills ... theres lots that are pretty good, but none as good as the pure powder.

Put your thumb and little finger together ,do it with your other hand(tips touching). With your tongue, you will find a little pointy bit of gum directly above the gap in your two front teeth.Put the tip of your tongue on the pointy bit, touch your thumbs and Little fingers together, and breath slowly and deeply.Evidently , the circle made by the thumb and little finger grounds our physical energy. And the circle made with our tongue and pointy gum thing ,grounds our mental energy.Try it , it works.
Stress is something that you do to yourself. It is how you REACT to a situation.

Change how you REACT and you stop the stress.

Stress happens when your mind tells your body to get ready to "fight or run" - it's a survival reaction that causes your body to release adrenaline among other physical changes.

You need to train yourself not to over REACT to a given situation.

In a situation that usually causes you stress, stop and ask yoiurself what is actually going on? What do you want to do if anything? Is in your power to do it? If it is, then do it. If it isn't, then don't REACT to it.

Everytime you feel yourself getting ready to stress out, just stop. Take a deep breath if that helps you to slow down. Don't automatically REACT. Think.

It takes a little bit of practice, but after a few times you should be able to master how you REACT.
I really love the information found in this Survival Kit for Stress Management. Take a look - I think you'll find it helpful!

cigarettes-- nicotine is legal but highly addictive
You didn't specify Legal or Illegal.

What is the medical cause of 'dazing off'?

the other day someone was talking to me while i was eating and i literally didn't hear anything they were said -- it was like i had dazed off into space for a second and when my mind clicked back in they had to repeat themselves - what is the medical reason for 'dazing off' what causes this? does it happen to everyone?
Answer:
There can be any number of causes for a temporary lapse of attention, like from a lack of proper sleep (you are tired %26 so is your brain), or stress (your brain is engaged in thinking about something else, possibly something that worries you, it is VERY difficult to maintain attention/focus when you are worried or thinking about something else). If it happens alot, it can be from a temporary lack of blood supply to the area of the brain which maintains attention, as in ADD/ADHD, or it could be just plain boredom. It is common, especially in this hectic, distracting world, but there are ways to learn to stay focused. Hope this helps.
There can be many causes for this my daughter is 8, she used to do this often , we thought she was just ignoring us like a typical kid buried in T.V. and she was also doing this at school , on Dec. 18th she had a seizure. We took her to a neurologist to find out that she was actually having constant seizures in the lower left lobe of her brain, she is now on medication for this. If it continues i would definitely get it checked out.

What is the mechanism to an acute break to the femur?

Answer:
There is no specific mechanism to a fracture. Most anything can cause a break. Acute simply means fast onset and of course most fractures are going to be that. I agree with the above you need to be more specific in your question.
What do you mean by "mechanism"??? A fracture is a fracture. There's no acute fracture. There's simple, compound, avulsed, bucket-handle, butterfly, comminuted, compression, displaced, greenstick, impacted, intraarticular, torus, linera, neoplstic, pathologic, oblique, occult, segmental, spiral, stellate, stress and transverse. So take your pick. Can you please rephrase your question?

What is the maximum amount of acetaminophen you can take in one dose?

Answer:
I wouldn't take much more than 1,000mg at a time. You definitely don't want to take more than 4,000mg in a 24 hour period because it can cause serious liver damage.
I don't take more than 1,000mg.
Acetaminophen, or Tylenol is easy to overdose on, so be careful. The recommended dosage for an adult is 1000mg. You can probably take as much as 1500mg, but do not double the dose!

Acetaminophen is in many over the counter preparations, so be careful to read labels so you don't accidentally overdose.

Acetaminophen overdose can cause liver failure and possibly death.

I suggest you take Ibuprofen. The effective dose is much less than an overdose. Ibuprofen also last longer than acetaminophen.

Be careful!
If you are asking this question, you are on the verge of serious trouble. It, of course, depends on your weight, but you should never try to take a maximum allowable dose of acetaminophen (Tylenol). An overdose will result in LIVER FAILURE AND MAYBE DEATH. You will be much safer if you take ibuprofen (Motrin) instead. This over-the-counter analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever-reducer) has much less potential for serious side effects.
There really is no max amount per dose. The recommendations regarding Acetamonophen (Tylenol) is a max per DAY.

In a normal, healthy adult, with good liver and kindey function, you should take a maximum of 4 grams (4000 mg) in a 24 hr period. This should be done for the shortest amount of time as possible. If you are maxing out on your dose daily long term - see your MD. It might be more serious than you think, or there are other more effective pain relievers that your doc can prescribe.

Any more and you risk toxicity, most commonly liver damage / failure. As with all drugs, you should use the least amount to acheive the desired effect. That is, if 500mg works, then don't take 1000mg. If you have a history of liver or kindey problems, then check with your doctor before taking ANY medication - the dosage may need to be reduced.

As others have stated, READ the labels. Many over the counter meds have Acetaminophen in them and you must account for all sources in a 24 hour period.

I agree that Ibuprofen or Naproxen might be a better choice, IF the source of the pain is due to inflamation. However, for pain such as headache, Tylenol works better for many people. Also, while Ibuprofen does not receive as much HYPE as Tylenol and liver toxicity, Ibuprofen and the other non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drugs (i.e. Naproxen, Aleve, Aspirin) do have their drawbacks. They all can cause thinning of your blood and lead to ulcers with chronic use / overuse.

Therefore - if you have a history of ulcers / GI problems, or take Coumadin (warfarin) or any other blood thinning medication, you should AVOID the Ibuprofen / Naproxen and stick with the Acetaminophen as the "safer" choice.

What is the longest time period a person can go without sleep?

I was wondering if anyone was a Doctor or actually knew how long a person can go without sleep without sustaining any long term negative effects
Answer:
To know for sure, you'd have to test lots of subjects to the point at which they DO sustain long-term negative effects, and that's not gonna happen.

In college I stayed awake 36 hours to write two term papers. It was hell, sheer hell, and I'm sure that I would keel over from a heart attack if I tried it again.
The longest I've heard of is 11 days - granted, I heard it on the tv show "House".
i heard a hillbilly poem where the man didnt sleep 4 16 days

What is the legality of ordering online prescription meds?

When a website says they have online doctor consultations and give a legit RX is this legal?
Answer:
I guess it depends on which country you live in. I order from DrugsBrokerDirect.com and I know they operate in compliance with FDA regulations for shipping medication for personal use. You just fill out a simple questionaire and an MD reviews it and a registered pharmacist fills the prescription. I've never had a problem with them.

Hope that helps!
Theoretically, it's legal, but they are basically "pushers". They charge ridiculously high prices for pills that would be affordable if prescribed by a regular doctor. These sites are usually reserved for pill addicts who will pay anything to get their fix.

-MM
Most of these places sell meds that are sub standard or illegal without a prescription. Often your package will be intercepted at customs and you'll be out the money and the drugs. It may be legal, but you run the risk of getting a placebo or worse.

What is the history of arthritis?

the history of it and the causes
Answer:
The natural history of arthritis in idiopathic haemochromatosis: progression of the clinical and radiological features over ten years.

* Hamilton EB,
* Bomford AB,
* Laws JW,
* Williams R.

The natural history of arthritis associated with idiopathic haemochromatosis was studied in 18 male patients over a 10 year period. Chondracalcinosis was present radiologically in at least on joint in seven patients initially and developed later in 13, with the articular cartilages of the wrists and knees affected most frequently. During the period of observation seven patients developed chondrocalcinosis in the wrists, seven in the knees, three in the hips, one in the symphysis pubis and two in the spine. In no patient did the chondrocalcinosis decrease or disappear. The development and progression of chondrocalcinosis was not affected by treatment of iron overload by venesection. The presence of chondrocalcinosis in at least one joint was not related to the age of the patient at the initial or follow-up examination or to the amount of iron removed by venesection (p greater than 0.05, Wilcoxon rank sum test). Arthritis (loss of joint space, cysts, destruction of articular surfaces) usually with associated symptoms and signs affected the hands in eight patients initially and developed later in 13. Arthritis of large joints was uncommon and none of the patients in the present series developed destructive arthritis of hips or knees. This contrast with the finding in a retrospective survey of 93 patients with idiopathic haemochromatosis seen since 1967 at King's College Hospital in which seven patients had destructive arthritis affecting the hips.

PMID: 7330169 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

history: (for osteoarthritis) = a Greek word = osteo (of the bone)
arthro (joint) itis (inflammation).

causes: injury to joint, misalignment (causing unnecessary wear and tear on the joint), and hereditary.

You need to read The Arthritis Cure by Dr. Jason Theodosakis - very easy to read and it explains everything in detail.

What is the highest hourly rate for a Radiologic Technologist and where can I earn it?

Answer:
Alaska, California, Massachusetts, and Washington DC are the highest according to ASRT's 2004 salary survey, but you have to keep in mind the cost of living in those places. You can't enter the field making the top pay - you have to gain experience and earn it.

http://www.asrt.org/media/pdf/wss2004_fu...
college or university
your best bet is to gain tons of experience so you can be the head of your "department" then work at a University hospital in a large city.

good luck!

What is the fastest way to get marijuana out of your system, and how long will it take to do this?

Answer:
Person above me is wrong. Pot is detectable in urine for 30 days in most people. Depending on your fat content. THC is deposited into fat, hair and even fingernails. You can use products to clean you out but htey are not always safe or effective. Since the FDA does not have anything to do with methods of ridding your body of any illegal substances, you are not guaranteed anything. Try visiting a vitamin and herb store they may be able to suggest somehting to help. Otherwise if you don't want anyone to know you smoke it DON'T smoke it. It isn't that great anyway. I can't say I never tried it but I can say I won't be using it agian. The risk of getting caught is not worth the 45 min. buzz and wieght gain from munching out.
there is no fast way.if you have to have a urine test it will take about 48hours to leave your system without detection.if you are having a blood test it will take 6 months to leave your system without detection.
I have had a couple of drug tests and its not the maryjane they are looking for.
never smoke it / u wont have to / if u follow my first answer
Go to your local head shop, and purchase synthetic urine. Its essentially lab created piss in a bottle. I just took a drug test recently purchased the "quick fix", thats really what its called, and passed with flying colors. It comes complete with a temperature reading on the bottle, and a nozzle for easy pouring. The one thing you have to do is make sure you keep the temp in the 92-98 degree range. Just leave it in some hot water, that should do the trick. Good luck!

And dont listen to the people above.. no need to stop smoking. The Quick Fix is great!
There is no quick way of getting marijuana out of your system. THC attaches itself to the fat cells in your body and can take up to a month of more to dissipate completely.
it can take years for there to be nothing left of the marijuana to get out of your system.

What is the fastest way to get marijuana out of my system once I have already smoked?

Answer:
Time! Exercise will help a bit but nothing else but time! Stop smoking weed!

THC is fat soluble, and it gets stored in your fat cells. Cleaning it out of your lipid tissue is very difficult. Many products claim to clean out your system, yet they do nothing to remove THC byproducts from fat cells. A study was done in Germany in 1993 on 50 of the most common herbs used by people trying to pass the test. All 50 herbs failed to cause a negative. Unfortunately, this rumor will not die.

Goldenseal (plant) is useless; yet it's the most common thing for people to use. The only way to extract THC from fat cells is to exercise. Fat cells secrete fat with THC metabolites at a constant rate, regardless of what you consume. You may be able to temporarily clean THC metabolites from your bloodstream, or dilute your fluids to yield a larger urine/THC ratio, but your bloodstream will continue collecting THC metabolites from fat. Your urine will continue collecting THC metabolites from your bloodstream.

Edit:
I usually don't do this, but ignore the answers below, they are nonsense, especially the clorox one! NOTHING will remove it from your system ... NOTHING!
pray to god to give u strength and courage so u wont do drugs ever again and give u victory
eat cheese. It binds to the thc receptors to bind with the THC in your system. You urinate these newformed Trithionine-3'-Hoxin out of your system about 3-4 hr after ingesting the cheese effectivly removing roughly 95% of the THC in your system.
Prolly not the best advice to give, but I was told if you drink a teaspoon of Clorox and dilute it in a cup of water, that would actually clean it up in a day or so. I know a nurse at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN that did it before he got hired on there. I know one other person that knows about this and endorses it. Don't drink too much, because it will show up as way too much on the test and they will have you re-test and also ask why you drink Chlorine.
Lots of water and exercising can't hurt but I'm not really sure that it works. There are detox kits you can try but I have heard that some labs will test for goldenseal root which is in a lot of them. The best thing you can do is wait it out and it will be gone in at the most 30 days.
I've heard drinking lots of water. I'm not sure if that is 100% true though. And there are also some pills you can take. I think they can be bought at like CVS or any local drug store. But you need to let that smoking stuff go... cause no matter what you do it can stay in your hair for like up to 7 years. So you may be able pass urine test but there are other ways they can get cha!!
umm.
i heard drinking cranberry juice or stone root tea helps
Get a bottle of cranberry juice (any flavor) drink about two glasses, drink some water, take vitamins.niacin helps, but burns you up for a bit. Try to eat food with no fat since marijuana clings to fat cells, go to the sauna and try to sweat some out. There are drinks at Twisted Minds and Amused that you can take if you need to take a drug test. They're about $20-$40 depending on the size. Also, GNC has GREAT vitamins to get it all out of your system, it may cost around $50 though. It should all be out in about 2-3 weeks if you can keep up a low-fat diet and exercise along with the cranberry juice.

What is the fastest way to get clean for a drug test at home?

Answer:
Gold Seal pills that you can get at the GNC store. Take six every 15 mins and drink lots of water. Or you can buy charcoal pills and drink lots of water. But seriously, stay off the dope and you won't have to worry about it.
By not doing drugs in the first place.
Sonne 7@health food stores. Unlike everyone else, I'm serious.
Easy. Don't do drugs.
Stop. Smoking. That. Pipe.
sonne 7 might help.
go to amazon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search...
smoke some bleach
buy a whizanator. google it.
don't do drugs.
GREEN TEA! Its a diaretic which will clean your system out a lot faster than normal.
WOW! I agree with everyone else on this one.

DON'T DO DRUGS!
Not that I am encouraging your drug use, but the best chance you have of passing a drug test if you've done some (depending on the type) is to drink tons of water. It will help flush out your system faster.
What is your problem?
why are you doing drugs in the first place
your stupid if you are
lots and lots and lots of water.
drink a cup a cup vinegar and take vitamin b pills to pass a pea test.
The only way I know is vitamin C. At every available opportunity drink pure orange and seek out foods high in it such as Kale (a form of cabbage with 10 times the vit C as oranges). Dont take too many vitamin tables as you can OD on it if you are too excessive. Ascorbic acid is the technical name for it so find foods with it in, only drink orange juice, eat bags of fruit and keep your fingers crossed. It should mask it depending on what you took, how much and how long ago. Cannabis is oily and very insoluble to water so takes longer to break down in the body but amphetamines, cocaine and heroin are a matter of days.
Stop using and you've got no worries.
by not having it at all
STOP DOING DRUGS!
Of course not doing drugs is the best for you and this test too. However you must have a short time ago at least "Tried" some. OK if it was Hemp type drug then you need to purchase a diuretic, that is a medicine that causes frequent urination. The more water that passes thru your body the more drug is washed out. You must take in water at least as much as you pass or else you can actually become dehydrated and concentrate the drug in your system that is if you are taking a urine test. Midol and a few other PMS meds contain a diuretic. Do as stated above then wait a week and test again. keep washing it out of your system till your test shows no more in you body. The other type test they are giving now is the hair testing they can test you and tell how often and how long you have been doing drugs. Of course the best way to foil this test is to cut your hair in a burr type. This testing you are going thru should be a wake-up call for you. Never do drugs again, it can cost you your future and any happiness you desire in your life. Wish you the best
