When we sleep our body is still working then why do we feel fresh when we wakeup.
Answer:
Your body is still working but not at the same speed when you are awake.
I'm glad you feel fresh after a night's sleep...I never do!
Mentally also physically
Its like what happens to the borg in their alcove - we regenerate
We sleep so the parts of our body that work all day (hands, feet, legs, etc.) can get rest. Even though our brain and lungs and heart still function, this is normal and irrelevant because they are all built to work non-stop. The other parts of our body are not.
Sleep is a natural part of everybody's life, but many people know very little about how important it is, and some even try to get by with little sleep. Sleep is something our bodies need to do; it is not an option. Even though the exact reasons for sleep remain a mystery, we do know that during sleep many of the body's major organ and regulatory systems continue to work actively. Some parts of the brain actually increase their activity dramatically, and the body produces more of certain hormones.
Sleep, like diet and exercise, is important for our minds and bodies to function normally. In fact, sleep appears to be required for survival. Rats deprived of sleep die within two to three weeks, a time frame similar to death due to starvation.
An internal biological clock regulates the timing for sleep. It programs each person to feel sleepy during the nighttime hours and to be active during the daylight hours. Light is the cue that synchronizes the biological clock to the 24-hour cycle of day and night.
Honestly, no one knows.
Take a look at the article in my sources, it's pretty interesting.
Inconclusive,but interesting.

Nature has decided the point. Don't worry oh inferior being, just trust her.
It takes 8 hours of sleep in total darkness fpr your immune system to recover and back to full strength. That's why you get sick when you don't get enough sleep.
Your mind goes through many phases of sleep that processes what has happened during the day. Beats me how it refreshes your body. I've wondered why something like a backache will go away during sleep, but won't go away just from lying down.
Well then don't sleep, and see how many nights you'll last and tell me what is feels like on your body when you don't sleep. I'll bet your pain level and sensitivity to pain will increase. And I'll bet you'll find it hard to think and concentrate.
When you are sleeping your body is regenerating. Your body does work but not as hard.
your asking me... the insomniac??
It's like the sleep mode on a computer, the light is on but your body is regenerating and repairing tissue. The metabolism of your body decreases thus putting you a state of REM where stress and tension is released. Without sleep people would become exhausted, paranoid and suicidal.
I,ll sleep when I,m dead
One view, "Preservation and Protection", is that sleep serves an adaptive function. It protects the individual during that portion of the 24-hour day in which being awake, and hence roaming around, would place the individual at greatest risk. Organisms don't require 24 hours to feed themselves and meet other necessities. From this perspective of adaptation, organisms are safer by staying out of harm's way where potentially they could be prey to other stronger organisms. They sleep at times that maximize their safety, given their physical capacities and their habitats. (Allison %26 Cicchetti, 1976; Webb, 1982). This theory, however, is not universally accepted. For example, if true, there would be no reason for the brain to disengage from the external environment as it does during normal sleep. A more advantageous adaptation would be for animals to seclude themselves but maintain quiet wakefulness to avoid predation. Nevertheless, it must be said that animals who are preyed upon usually disengage from the external environment to a lesser degree. Sleep is not simply a passive consequence of removing the animal from the environment, but rather is itself a "drive": animals will alter their behaviors in order to obtain sleep. Therefore, circadian regulation is more than sufficient to explain periods of activity and quiescence that are adaptive to an organism, but the more peculiar specializations of sleep most likely reflect different and unknown functions.
cuz when u go to sleep everythin slows away down except ur brain and kidneys and this helps to build ur energy up again making u feel refreshed in the morning! xx
its the only time our brain gets to rest hunny. sleep is essential for us to function and concentrate. wish i felt refreshed when i wake up,I'm generally still tired, lol. take care xx
i think that we need to sleep so our bodies can repair our bodies. when you are sick i always feel better with more sleep
